John Wm. ‘Jack” Ezell is a native Houstonian who has practiced law in and around Harris County, Texas as well as numerous other counties of the state for some 40 years. During that time he has represented thousands of individuals in all types of civil litigation. Having this background, Jack says “I have been in and out of courtrooms my whole life and I have seen judges of all different demeanors. I would like to think that this experience has taught me what kind of judge I wish to be as I serve as Justice of the Peace in Precinct 2, Place 2 in Harris County, Texas.”
Judges should be, above all else, fair and impartial. It should not matter who the litigants are, they should feel that they have had an opportunity to present their case and that the matter has been both fairly considered and fairly ruled upon. Judges should not be political, wearing their political view “on their sleeves” as it were. Judges should not be above the law or try to re-invent the law. That is for law makers. A judge’s job is to apply the law and leave his or her biases at home.
About Jack
Jack Ezell was born in Houston, Texas and, but for his school years, has resided here his whole life. He has lived in the same neighborhood for the better part of 40 years, married to his wife, Teresa and raising their three children.
A long time member of Park Place Baptist Church, Jack has served as both deacon and Sunday School teacher. His values are conservative and his views both Christian and Patriotic.
He is a member of the State Bar of Texas in good standing, the Houston Bar Association, and the Brazoria County Bar Association.

Justice of the Peace
Although Texas allows anyone who resides in a precinct to run for the office of Justice of the Peace in that precinct, the position is still a judge. Though a legal background is not required by law, it certainly makes a candidate more qualified if he has a legal background and has spent time in courtrooms.
